Web & Ecommerce

Web and ecommerce design, from first sketch to live Shopify store.

I design and build online stores that are easy to shop and true to the brand behind them. I build with AI as a hands-on partner: I set the direction, make the design and product decisions, and test every result, and AI helps me write and debug the code. These two case studies show how I work: the problem, my role, and what I built.

FastTrack Room Configurator

Case study

From a spreadsheet and a sales quote to a guided checkout in a few clicks.

AVI-SPL designs and installs audio-visual and collaboration technology for businesses, and sells equipment through its Shopify store. As the in-house web designer on the Internet Marketing team, I designed and built FastTrack: a guided configurator that lets customers choose a pre-configured meeting room and buy it online.

Company

AVI-SPL (in-house)

Tools

Shopify, Liquid, metafields, AI-assisted development

Role

Sole designer and builder

Status

Live on production, public launch pending

The problem

Buying a pre-configured room meant contacting sales, waiting on a manual quote, and going back and forth before anyone could place an order. The only version of the room configurator was an Excel tool owned by another department, with no connection to the store and no path from configuration to purchase.

Turning that spreadsheet into an online tool took months of cross-department meetings to pin down the requirements, the matching logic, and the edge cases, with direct input from the VP of Marketing.

What I built

My manager defined the transactional and back-end requirements. I designed the experience and built the whole Shopify implementation in Liquid and Shopify's data model, using AI to write and debug the code, with no outside developer or agency.

  • A multi-step custom Shopify section that guides customers through configuration and ends in a real Shopify checkout and payment
  • The spreadsheet's business logic translated into 15+ product metafields: manufacturer, platform, room type, capacity, display specs, pricing tiers, and more
  • An upsell that offers installation to any customer who skips it during configuration
  • Order routing that sends completed purchases straight to the installation team for fulfillment

A purchase that used to start with a sales call and a manual quote now takes a few clicks.

HP Poly Headset Campaign

Case study

One campaign, three landing pages, each built for a different buyer.

A manufacturer partner campaign for HP Poly headsets on AVI-SPL's Shopify store. I took an approved campaign brief and built the full landing page funnel and the display ad set that drives traffic into it.

Company

AVI-SPL for HP Poly

Scope

3 landing pages, 9 display ads

Role

Landing page and display ad builder

Status

Live through Dec 31, 2026

The problem

HP Poly wanted awareness, engagement, and qualified leads for its headset solutions at shop.avispl.com. The audience ranged from IT decision-makers and procurement teams to UC and collaboration managers, contact center leaders, and hybrid workforce leads, each with different needs.

The brief called for routing each prospect to one of three dedicated landing experiences based on need, instead of sending all traffic to one generic page. It also set the KPIs before launch: impressions, CTR, landing page engagement, form submissions, cost per lead, and lead quality by source.

What I built

With AI assisting on the code and the campaign imagery, I built each landing page as a custom Shopify page template with its own hero, benefits breakdown, and audience-fit section, then built the ads to send each audience to the right page.

  • Mission Headsets, for call-intensive, USB-based work
  • Focus 6 Headsets, for premium wireless hybrid work
  • Headset Solutions Advisors, a vendor-neutral guidance hub with a qualification form (use case, headset type, current platform) that closes into a state-based rep routing page
  • Both product pages funnel into the Advisors page, so a visitor who isn't sure which headset fits still has a next step instead of a dead end
  • Nine display ads: three IAB sizes (728×90, 300×250, 300×600) for each landing page, so each ad sends its audience to the right page instead of one generic ad running everywhere

Every visitor, including the ones still deciding, lands on a page built for them and leaves with a clear next step.
