I draw things that make people stop and look twice.
Food that took all afternoon. Buildings that have been lived in. Mostly I'm trying to capture the feeling of being near something, not just what it looks like. Click any piece to enlarge it.

I'm Javi, an
illustrator in Tampa.
I draw food and buildings, mostly because they both say something about how people inhabit their world. A meal that took all afternoon. A corner of a city that's been lived in for generations.
Most of my work starts somewhere real — a dish a friend made, a street I walked down and couldn't stop thinking about. I try to get that feeling onto the page.
